John F. Bondarowicz Sr. was born August 3, 1936, in Sloboda, Poland and passed away peacefully at his home on March 13, 2017, surrounded by family. Beloved husband of 56 years to Josephine; loving father of John Jr. (Jannet), Dorothy and Agnes (David) Malin; cherished grandfather of Nathan and Ryan Malin; dear brother of Marian and the late Joseph.

John F. Bondarowicz Sr. was born August 3, 1936, in Sloboda, Poland and passed away peacefully at his home on March 13, 2017, surrounded by family. Beloved husband of 56 years to Josephine; loving father of John Jr. (Jannet), Dorothy and Agnes (David) Malin; cherished grandfather of Nathan and Ryan Malin; dear brother of Marian and the late Joseph.

As a very young boy, John and his family survived the Nazi invasion of Poland and the Holocaust. In 1956, he immigrated to the United States and his family followed soon thereafter. He established his American roots in Chicago and later moved to Park Ridge, where he lived for the last 41 years. He retired as a Switch Operator for S&C Electric Company after 47 years of service.

John was a devout, gentle man who touched many lives with his peaceful wisdom. He enjoyed going for long walks, watching soccer and old Western movies, playing crosswords and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren whom he adored.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 17th, from 3-9 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines. Prayers will be said Saturday, March 18th, at 9:15 AM at the funeral home and proceed to St. Paul of the Cross Church, Park Ridge, for funeral mass at 10 AM. Interment Town of Maine Cemetery, Park Ridge.
